Man dies after night out dancing

PANAJI: A 34-year-old man danced himself to death at his Ukrainian girlfriend's house at Siolim on Sunday morning.
Anjuna police said that David Fernandes of Arpora, owner of the house, said that at 1 pm the body of Ali Merchant, resident of Bandra, Mumbai was found in the rented house of his 32-year-old Ukrainian girlfriend, who is a professional dancer.
Investigations revealed that Merchant was working as a project manager for builder Sumeet Chopra in Sangolda.
Police sources said that on Saturday, Merchant along with his girlfriend were seen at a popular night club till about 2 am. He then left the night club, went to the room and slept.
"At about 6 am, he went to his girlfriend's room with a liquor bottle and from 6 to 8 am they danced in the room. They then went to sleep in separate rooms. Later at 1 pm as he was not picking up his mobile phone, which was constantly ringing, she tried to wake him up, but he didn't move," said police sources. She called for the ambulance service, who on arrival declared Merchant dead.
Police said that the deceased was a habitual alcoholic and there was no injury on his body. A case of unnatural death has been registered and the body has been sent for a post-mortem.
